So, I haven’t formally announced this yet, but imagine my surprise when I discovered that 15 people have already found & signed up for an app I built, completely organically. 👀😂

Meet Canopy CMD! 🌳💻

This whole thing started because I was frustrated w/ how macOS handles switching between windows. I wanted something more intuitive, especially when juggling multiple app windows, so I decided to build the thing I wished existed.

And whaddya know, it became a real, fully functional Mac app.

The name Canopy was inspired by a fascinating natural phenomenon called crown shyness, where the upper branches of neighboring trees leave beautiful little gaps between their canopies. Each tree has its own space, while together they form something bigger.

I loved that metaphor for an app designed to give every open window its own place, making it easier to navigate your digital world.

Canopy CMD lets you use Option + Tab to visually browse and switch between individual windows, with support for multiple Mac applications.Adobe Suite, Development Tools, Browser windows…. Pretty much everything that has more than one application window. It was also a game changer for my design process and working with Photoshop / Illustrator, let alone my typical work process across browsers, finder windows, etc.

It’s officially in free beta through December 31, & early adopters can grab special founding-member pricing.

I’ve been quietly building this alongside about a million other ideas, so discovering that actual strangers have already found it before I’ve done any real marketing is kind of blowing my mind. 😂🥹

Anyway, here’s my first little contribution to making the Mac experience better. 🌿

🔐 A quick note about security: Canopy CMD isn’t available through the Mac App Store because of the way it interacts with macOS window management. However, it is digitally signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, meaning it has gone through Apple’s automated security checks for software distributed outside the App Store.

You can download and install it directly from the website, and macOS can verify its developer sign

So I’ve known Mark has been working on a game… but

So I’ve known Mark has been working on a game… but I hadn’t fully understood what that meant. 😂

Over the last few weeks, I’ll look over and my very non-graphically inclined husband is in some Photoshop-adjacent app meticulously removing the background from an image of an ANT. 🐜💀A skeleton ant, an ant with a shield, etc.

For context, Mark LOVES bugs and reptiles. This man regularly feeds spiders he finds around the house and desperately wants an ant farm, which… absolutely not. 😂

ANYHOW.

Last night, out of nowhere, he’s like, “Come look, I want you to try my game.”

Y’ALL. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.

This man has quietly built an ENTIRE PLAYABLE VIDEO GAME. With elaborate progression systems, battles, multiplayer features, and its own backend server?!?!

Meanwhile, he’s casually clicking around while I’m sitting there going, “MARK?!?! YOU MADE THIS?!?! WHAT?!?!” 😂

I don’t typically play these kinds of games, but I can absolutely recognize how impressive this is. I am genuinely BLOWN AWAY.

But what really makes my heart explode is that he’s deliberately building it without the predatory mechanics so common in gaming. No gacha, no micro transactions, no stamina timers, no pressure to log in at certain times. He wants people to enjoy his game because it’s genuinely FUN.

And it hit me how beautiful it is that we’re both discovering these incredible new creative possibilities, building things we’re passionate about, and putting our ethics and values at the core of what we create.🤩 🥰

Watching him explore this whole new side of himself, and getting to share in that excitement, makes me ridiculously happy. 🥹❤️

After all these years, this man can still absolutely blow my mind.

Anyway, my husband is apparently an indie game developer now. He won’t let me show more right now, but damn. And his game is about NECROMANTIC ANTS.

Because of course it is. 😂🐜💚 I’m so freaking proud of him. ❤️ AND LOOKIT HIS LOADING SCREEN!!! 👁️👄👁️🤯🤩🥰

My besties this week 🥰 Despite having an entire house to roam, everyone has decided that the best sleeping arrangement is one giant pile of animals with me somewhere underneath.

The bed is tiny & personal space is nonexistent BUT the snuggles are absolutely the best 🥰🥰 I guess also that I am a furnace probably doesn’t help my cause.

10/10. Would willingly be held hostage again. 🥰😂❤️ and I will be… again, later this month, lol.

These popped up in my memories today. Somehow, I have survived all of… whatever THAT was. *gestures broadly at life in general* 🥴

And at 41, I somehow have more passion, imagination, ambition, and resilience than I ever imagined I could reasonably possess. 😂

Despite all attempts at the opposite… I’m still wildly curious, coming up with ridiculous ideas, and operating under the assumption that I can probably figure out how to do just about anything.

Trauma has such a funny way of compartmentalizing things. You can spend years processing your past, understanding what happened, and thinking you’ve made peace with it all. Then you stumble across pictures of your tiny little self, and suddenly you’re looking at your own life through an entirely different lens. 👀

It’s strange to realize how much that little girl would eventually endure, and even stranger to recognize how much of her is still here. The imagination, the curiosity, the ridiculous determination to do whatever she sets her mind to. Apparently, she was a stubborn little shit. 😂❤️

Life has been one hell of a ride, and I’m genuinely excited to see what I do with the rest of it. But the part I’m most proud of? I have officially become the adult little Leeah needed. ❤️ And damn, do I miss my grandma… 💔 If a hell exists, I’m convinced it’s the dimension where you’re physically separated from loved ones. *cough* this one *cough*

And because apparently the universe has a ridiculous sense of humor, I decided to find a Perry Como song for this post because I remember my Grandma absolutely loved him. I barely know his music, so imagine my face when I stumbled across a song called Seattle. SEATTLE. The very place I somehow ended up building this whole new chapter of my life. 😂😭 And these lyrics…. 👀👀👀👀
